Summer Wedding Inspirations

BRIDE //VIBRANT//COLORFUL

Summer is the perfect time to have a wedding with bold & bright decorations. Spring weddings had a lot of pastel & soft colors. Now that Spring is sooo last season, it’s time to intensify the colors. Fresh, bright, multiple colors are a fun way to make the best wedding.

To cool down the bride, a light and flowy wedding dress will not only look great, but feel amazing during the hot summer. To cool down the guests, you can serve bright colored popsicles!

BRIDE//BOLD//DARING

Inspired by Vera Wang’s 2013 Summer Wedding Dress Collection, going bold might be the modern way to spice up your wedding color theme.  Vera Wang skipped all the whites in the wedding dresses and went straight to red dresses. The color red can be a great accent pop against white table linens, chairs, and plates. During this hot season, keep your guests cool and happy with an ice cream cart! Who can resist ice cream during the summer? If alcohol is required, leave behind the wine & cocktails at home and summer up with refreshing Strawberry Daiquiris or wine smoothies!

BRIDE//CITRUS//BRIGHT

What drink pops when you think of summer? Lemonades! And what do you do when life gives you lemons? You make a beautiful, bright, and fun wedding! Lemonade stands create an enjoyable refreshment area and naturally appealing decorations. Bright citrus color’s always attract the eye during the summer days. Brighten up your summer wedding by dressing up your décor & bridesmaids in these wonderful citrus colors!

Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Father’s Day is just around the corner! Although Dads SAY that they love whatever you give them, sometimes we (the children) know that he has hidden expectations as to what he would LIKE to have. Taking into consideration the father who has everything to the picky step-dad, as well as your budget, we’ve gathered some of our favorite Father’s Day gift ideas:

1.  History/Military Buff
Price: $39.99
Website: amazon.com

Band of Brothers is the PERFECT gift for those indoor, rainy, pizza delivery nights. If your dad’s a history or war movie buff, he’ll love this DVD set. It brings the sheer terror of combat and the incredible bravery of the soldiers who fought and won World War II to life on the small screen like never before. Plus, your dad will be impressed with your good taste in buying him perhaps the finest television program of all time.

2.  Neat Freak
Model: Deluxe Valet
Make: RedEnvelope
Price: $99.95
Website: redenvelope.com

Tame wallet, watch, keys and other everyday essentials with a beautifully styled valet. Two deep compartments hold a phone and MP3 player, and the cord routers simplify charging. Drawer stows myriad odds and ends. A perfect way to help your Father stay organized and fashionable.

3.  Outdoor Guy

Dads love nothing more than to spend the entire day BBQing with their children. Plan an all-day family outing! For Dads that love trying new cooking gadgets, this is the perfect way to experience something together. Need grilling set, digital meat thermometers or even a unique beer bottle opener? Visit www.bbqgalore.com!

4.  Refined Father
Model: Ravi Instant
Wine Chiller
Make: RedEnvelope
Price: $39.95
Website: redenvelope.com

For those fathers that love to wine and dine, this is a great gift to show off to new guests. Once attached to the bottle, it instantly chills your wine while it is being poured!

Regardless of what you decide to get, the most important point of gifting is to show that you care and that you appreciate him for all that he is. Look for clues on what he may need, casually ask him what he likes and in the worst case scenario, you can never go wrong with an iPad 2!

Happy shopping!

xoxo,

TEP

Happy Memorial Day!

The long awaited 3-day weekend is finally here! Hooray! Here are some festive ideas for destinations, BBQs, and snacks to keep your cool on!

Destinations

For the party rockers: VIVA LAS VEGAS! Tons of people make their way to Vegas to kick off the summer during Memorial Day weekend. Get your tan and cocktail on at the day beach clubs while dancing to notable DJs, then have a relaxing dinner and unwind to a Cirque du Soleil show in the evening. You know the rest ;)
When: All weekend long!
Where: Las Vegas, NV

For the patriotic: Feeling adventurous? Visit THE QUEEN MARY in Long Beach! Take a self-guided ghost tour & watch the Ghost&Legend show with retired veterans, and active military heroes! FREE for veterans/active military, and general admissions for the public.

When: Memorial Day Monday, 10AM-6PM

Where: Queen Mary

For the music lovers: Nourish your ears and hips at the JazzReggae Festival! Performers include famous artists such as The Roots, Booker T. Jones, Shaggy, Tarrus Riley, and many more. It’s like a mini Coachella, so gather your best indie gear and shades and head out there!

When: May 27th & 28th, 11AM-7PM

Where: Intramural Field at UCLA

BBQ ideas:

Are you throwing a BBQ and need more inspiration for decorations, food or ideas? Fret no more! TEP’s here to help!

Fruit is almost present at any party! But after awhile, it gets warm and the color starts fading while it sits out in the sun. Here is a quick and inexpensive way to spruce up your fruits and keep them fresh!

Fresh Fruit cups

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Clear plastic cups

  • Toothpicks (you can get festive and get ones with flags on them!)

  • Tub (the size depends on the size of your party)

  • ICE

  • Mint leaves (optional)

1. Cut all the fruits into bite size

2. Put an arrangement of fruits in each cup

3. Relish each cup with mint leaves (optional) and top it off by sticking a [festive] toothpick in each fruit cup!

4. Fill the tub with ice

5. Stick the cups into the ice!

Voila! You now have fresh fruit in cups that will stay fresh and cool throughout the whole party!

Now that’s over, your guests are obviously going to be thirsty! What about some beverage ideas?

Well— not exactly! But lemons will be used!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • ORANGE & LEMONADE frozen concentrates

  • 2 bottles of champagne*

  • 1 bottle of Sprite

  • Orange & Lemon slices

  • Punch bowl & ladle

  • ICE (depending on how cold the beverage turns out)

1. Pour the Orange & Lemonade frozen concentrate into the punch bowl

2. Then pour the 2 bottles of champagne and the 1 bottle of Sprite

3. Stir it until the concentrate mixes in completely

4. Add a little ICE to keep it cool (again, depends how cold it is)

5. Lastly, add the orange and lemon slices to complete the look!

*for a non-alcoholic version, just replace the champagne + 1 bottle of Sprite with 3 bottles of Sprite, and add ICE.

Now.. what party is considered a party, without some mustache action?! Mustaches have been the craze as of late, and we recently found a cute accessory for your beer bottles and water bottles!

We present to you:

Beerstaches come in different colors and can liven up the mood at any event! Get yours today!

The ladies of The Event Prerogative would like to sincerely wish everyone a wonderful and safe 3-day Memorial Day weekend! Swing by next week for another informative entry!

With lots of sunshine & bellini’s,

T.E.P
